Deviant Wolfe Brewing
Craft Brewery
Deviant Wolfe Brewing is an award-winning, independent craft brewery and community taproom in the heart of historic downtown Sanford. You'll find us on the west end of 1st Street, tucked between The Tennessee Truffle and Theatre West End, with street parking right out front and the shops, restaurants, and riverfront all a short walk away.
We're built around a simple idea: beer is better around the campfire. Our logo is a campfire because a fire is where people gather, share stories, and settle in together, and that's exactly what we want the taproom to feel like. Some nights that means live music and a packed room. Other nights it's a quiet flight and a board game with a couple of friends. Both are the point.
The beer covers a lot of ground. Our tap list rotates constantly, from crisp, easy-drinking lagers to hazy IPAs, rich stouts, and the fruit-forward sours we've become known for. We've earned recognition along the way, including a Gold medal at Best Florida Beer and a Silver at the U.S. Open Beer Championship for our dark lager, Exterior Illumination. If you want to take some home, we can crowler or can most of what's on tap.
Hungry? Order from our partners at SLAM Pizza and Cheesesteaks and we'll bring it right to your table, or grab something from any of the great spots steps away in downtown Sanford.
We're family-friendly, dog-friendly in the outdoor area, and packed with things to do all week: Trivia By Fire, beer yoga, our run club, Tabletop Tuesday, and more. Whether you're a local regular or exploring downtown for the first time, pull up a seat by the fire and stay awhile.

Beer is better around the campfire.
Deviant Wolfe Brewing is an independent, family-owned craft brewery and taproom in historic downtown Sanford, Florida. We opened our doors on 1st Street with a straightforward goal: to build the kind of place where people actually want to gather, the way friends gather around a fire. That idea runs through everything we do, from the beer we brew to the events we host to the campfire in our logo.
How we started
Deviant Wolfe began with four friends who met at the University of Florida and bonded over two things: the outdoors and good beer. On road trips and camping weekends in search of adventure, they kept coming back to the same feeling, that the best conversations happen around a campfire with something worth drinking in hand. Two of them started homebrewing together on a back porch, and over time a hobby turned into a plan to deviate from their careers and open a brewery of their own. The name "Wolfe" comes from combining two of the founders' family names.
When a space on 1st Street came open, the timing was right, and the team took on much of the buildout themselves. Using reclaimed and recycled materials wherever they could, they handmade the picnic tables and window bar, rebuilt the main bar from pallet wood, and repurposed the furniture throughout. The building has had a few lives before ours, as a bank, a dance studio, and a CrossFit gym. The old bank vault is now the staff office.
The beer
Our tap list is always changing, and that's on purpose. We'd rather chase a great idea than lock ourselves into a fixed lineup, so on any given visit you might find a clean American lager, a hazy IPA, a barrel-leaning stout, or one of the creative fruit-forward sours we've built a reputation on. We can pour you a pint or a flight of tasters, and we'll happily let you sample before you commit. Most of what's on tap can go home with you in cans or crowlers.
We're proud of the recognition our beer has earned, including a Gold medal at the Best Florida Beer competition and a Silver at the U.S. Open Beer Championship for Exterior Illumination, our dark lager. Awards are nice, but the check-ins, the regulars who know the whole staff by name, and the first-timers who come back the next weekend mean more.
What to expect when you visit
The taproom is relaxed and welcoming. High ceilings, a long bar, family-style tables, a mural of mountain ranges, and a clear view of the brew tanks in the back. We're family-friendly, and dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area. If you're hungry, order from our food partner SLAM Pizza and Cheesesteaks and we'll bring it to your table, or pick up something from any of the restaurants a few steps away in downtown Sanford.
There's almost always something happening. Our weekly calendar includes Feisty Trivia, beer yoga, a brewery run club, Tabletop Tuesday game nights, and our Campfire Stories series, where guests from all walks of life share something they're passionate about over a beer. We partner regularly with local nonprofits and community groups, because being a genuine part of Sanford matters to us more than just being located here.
